My name is Joey and I am a filmmaker. I have been creating moving pictures since I was ten years old, starting with hand-drawn flip books and progressing to animated videos using Mario Paint and a VCR to edit at the age of fifteen. After high school, I joined the army and bought my first video camera. During this time I had created numerous videos and my passion for video production took flight. It wasn't until my first semester of college that I decided to pursue video production as a career.
In May 2010, I graduated from George Mason University with a B.A. in Film & Video and a minor in Communications. My internship during my senior semester was indisputably the highlight of my college experience. During this time I worked as an assistant editor for Discovery Studios and digitized media for shows such as "Energy 365" for The Discovery Channel, "Anxious" for Discovery Health, and "Hoarding: Buried Alive" for TLC. In the past year following my graduation, I have fulfilled two contracts at Half Yard Productions, logging numerous hours of video footage for the Discovery series "American Loggers" (season 3) and "Hillbilly Handfishing" for Animal Planet.
Outside of work I produce music videos for local artists, participate in film festivals, and events such as the annual 48 Hour Film Project. My professional niche is editing and cinematography but I am not limited in other aspects of production. Producing, directing, lighting, sound recording, color correction, grading, and sound design are all in my repertoire.
Aside from filmmaking, I also enjoy riding the unicycle, photography, and geocaching.
